WC frequently and consistently and maintaining reef normal parameters and pull, brush and vacuum. Your bacteria must achieve sufficient quantities, to process the load, be it small at this time.
I never vacuumed the sand bed when doing water changes, I simply siphon water out and replace with new saltwater. Research taught me to go with not disturbing the sand bed and allowing micro fauna, snails, crabs take care of that naturally...
