The outward cone at the top would act as a diffuser, as the bottom one and cylinder act as a nozzle... concentrating the flow. By spreading out the outlet with a cone, you spread out the flow, lowering its velocity. If you look at the new ATI BM300, you will see something similar. This one almost reminds me of the original Fauna-Marin/ATI design in that sure, it has a bubble plate, but then it has a cylinder around the output all the way to the top. Aqua Medic uses this method of diffusing the pump output as well on its T5000 series as well.

It may not be big, but I just thought it would be better than the cylinder on there.

I only make skimmers for my own testing. I like research, development, design... but have no interest in production.
