Sargassum Triggers are Pelagic, I.E. they live in the water column not around and on the reef, I suspect this has a lot to do with their reef-safeness. They live around floating piles of Sargassum. I have had mine for almost 2 years, wonderful and entertaining fish. I think you could get them to coexist with certain crustaceans, though any opportunistic Trigger will take advantage of any easy dinner if he's hungry...They are still Triggers. I only have soft corals, but he has never even looked at one.

Mine swims against the powerhead stream for hours on end, and spits water at me as fast as he can get it in his mouth any time I open the top of the tank...I don't know that I've had a more quirky fish.
