The simple 3-chamber design works well and is fairly common. There are variations on the design where you have Skimmer, Fuge, Return -or- Fuge, Skimmer, Return -or- Skimmer and Fuge on the ends, with a Return in the middle. Just make sure the comartments are large enough to fit the equipment you intend to use. This might give you some ideas:
