I would liken this to clothes shopping. I'm totally happy to go buy clothes on my own and I generally know what's out there and what I like.
My daughter, on the other hand, pretty much HAS to have one of her girlfriends along when she goes shopping, and they practically pick out each other's outfits. When we can't find one of her friends to play that role, She talks me in to playing it. We walk into a store and she asks me what she should try on. It's not that she doesn't know anything about clothes or can't pick out her own clothes, she just really enjoys having someone pick things out for her, or at least with her.

"It is my personal belief that reef aquaria should be thriving communities of biodiversity, representative of their wild counterparts, and not merely collections of pretty specimens growing on tidy clean rock shelves covered in purple coralline algae." (Eric Borneman)
