I had this issue and just took 2 pieces of plywood and painted them black and then placed them up against the outside back of the tank. I can move it when doing maintenance and put back when Im done. But then again my tank doesn't have an overflow on the back of it so Im not sure how you would cover the overflow other than maybe black acrylic on the inside of your tank.
