IMHO I don't think it will hurt as long as they find enough to eat. I have more than the recommended amount in my 75g. I think I have 12-13 Nassarius Vibex in there. I enjoy watching them come poking out of the sand like zombies every time I feed the tank. I feed my fish twice a day and my corals every other, so there is always some little bits to clean up in my tank.
