That's not a bad idea, but I don't like doing it ghetto in someone else's house (my parents). I'm sure I would do in my own house though. Surely not up to code though.

Thanks for the idea, but I'm thinking that I'm just going to have to fur out the wall with 2x material and use a 1-7/8" or 2" box.
