one thing I do and love with QT is to throw a small 1/2 or 3/4 PVC reducer fitting on the airline hose to go over the airstone. It weights it down in the tank so fish cant knock it around or anything.

I swap the fittings when I transfer tanks and clean like I do rest of equipment. Airstone and airline obviously throw away with each transfer.
