I would consider the DC pumps. I replaced a Mag5 w/ a Speedwavd DC-3000. According to specs, it should be pushing around 600gph @ 3' head, and is listed as 25 watts. My informal observation is that it flows slightly more than a Mag5, but has a controller that allows you to adjust the flow.
Extremely quiet pump. Downside is that they don't have enough history yet to know how they hold up long-term.
