A protein skimmer would help by removing stuff from the water column and IMO, highly suggested.

As for the red slim, this is a natural stage for your tank since it is young. Syphon out the red slime and maybe reduce your lighting period and intensity if you can. If you are unable to do that with your lights, raise the lights up to get them further from the water line.
