Why would MH have to do with the depth? It's all about the reflector, not necessarily the source of the light (okay fine, you'd at least need T5 or MH, not PC or VHO)

Mostly I don't want to run metal halides due to the heat issues. I have enough trouble keeping my house cool most of the winter as it is. I think I turned my heat on 3-4 times last year, and I live in NW washington state. My intention is to run T-5's and experiment with some LED ideas I have.
