Lanthanum carbonate(LaCO3) is a precipitant of lanthanum and carbonate; lanthanum phosphate(LaPO4) is also a preciptant. Both are insoluble in tank water. Lanthanum chloride(LaCl) disassociates in water; the free lanthanum(La) binds with either phosphate or carbonate.
