Basically you are flowing more through it than it can handle..
Reduce your return pump flow and it will improve..
DC pump? If so turn it down..
Not adjustable pump? If so put a valve on the output side of the pump to throttle it back to reduce flow..

A 115 gallon tank (I assumed thats what it is) only needs roughly 300GPH of return pump flow to meet with commonly recommended guidelines..
Its a 115 gallon tank, which the stand and tank is 36 inches each. I didnt know about the flow. Im using an Eheim 1262 pump, but the headway is about 6 feet. Alot of water does flow out into the tank, and i can actually see the drain pipe vibrating as the water flows out of it. It does make sense though. I spoke to Aquavim about what pump and he said a 1300 gph is best which doesnt sound right.
