That's too bad about the pair (trio) not making it. I had one for about a year hand caught from Hawaii that was doing great, then all of a sudden died out of the blue, literally like 20 minutes after vigorously eating. Was perfectly normal one minute, then dead the next minute.

I bought two (non-Hawaiian) MIs from a LFS with faded colors but were very actively picking at the sand and rocks. They were in the same tank and seemed to get along. Wanted to try to pair them up, but after 1 day in QT together, one started attacking the other. I separated them and QT'd each separately, thinking maybe it was due to the smaller space in QT. Their colors improved tremendously during QT. I tried pairing them again in the DT, and same thing. For 1 day they got along. Then after 1 day, the same MI started attacking the other one. Decided not to press it and separated them.
