Ultra lithe and Zeovit

I was wondering if the Ultra lithe Zeolithe and Zeovit Zeolite media are the same thing. Reason I ask is there is price difference here where I am. I run the Ultra lithe system and like it but find the Zeolithe is quite abit more expensive and really and trying to do things a little cheaper. Not sure if any has tested mixing these products with one or the other.
Thanks, Chris

We established a cheaper poorman Zeo method here in this thread. Please review.

I'm not sure if the zeolites are the same in the zeo / fm systems. They look similar, but there are over 100 synthetic zeolites and something like 50 natural ones. Personally, I'd buy the one made for the system you're running.

The desired end effect is basically the same, but I'm not sure that the process to reach it is the same.

zeo manual:

At this point we would like to warn you not to use just any zeolite. There are several hundred different materials with this name. Every zeolite has been designed or modified for a specific use. Using a zeolite with the wrong properties could have detrimental effects on your tank and lead to the loss of all animals. Such total crashes have been reported to us in the past when the wrong zeolites were used. A visual selection or comparison is not possible since different zeolite material often looks alike. For the safety of your animals, only use zeolites that are packaged in ZEOvit bags. ....

Thanks for the info so far. Is there anyone out there that is currently mixing Zeo and Fauna Marin products?
Thanks, Chris

Chris... I've heard the ZEO ones are natural and the FM are synthetic. The ZEO ones may also have a carbon source coating, not sure though. The ones sold in major Pet stores marked for fresh water won't work.

I wouldn't see a need to change or experiment with the current price reduction on ZEO branded ones.

Thanks for the info guys. If I do decide to mix and match I will post my finding here. Not ready to do it yet but will see if I can get as much info as I can before I do.
Thanks again, Chris

I am pretty sure both zeolites are natural and have similar effect. Not sure about the FM brand being synthetic through.
