My reefbreeders/t5 retrofit floating canopy.

I wanted to add some t5 to my LEDs after upgrading from a 37 long to a 75 gallon tank.

I looked at countless pictures of hanging lights from the ceiling/wall and it just didn't work for me aesthetically. I ended up making a simple canopy and using a tv wall mount and am extremely happy with the results. All that's left is to trim the extra mounting plate bracket, get some simple wood trim on the canopy and paint black to match the stand.

I'll post progress pictures as I have time.

Got it painted. I'm really happy with it. Probably going to add a piece of thin plywood to cover the top.

Great idea. gosh I pondered my reef breeder install for weeks and weeks while watching tv. All the time the solution was hiding behind my big screen!!! Good job.

Curious and sorry to thread jack. Im in the middle of painting my canopy. Would it matter what color the inside is. Would white help with reflection for lighting or really have no effect?

Not to burst your bubble but I have had nothing but trouble with my Breeder lights. I got 2 photon 36's over my tank. The one unit I had to send back for 2 new drivers. The other unit now has a driver gone bad. The units are barely 2 years old. You get what you pay gor I guess. Super nice canopy you made though.

No bubble burst. I've switched to radium 20k halides, super actinic VHO, and a DIY rapid led actinic strip.
