I have something nipping at my Acros
Hey guys I'm going crazy because I added some emerald crabs to my tank about a month ago as I was told they're reef safe. I also have a file fish in my tank as well..... what a delightful present from my g/f. Anywho I noticed about a week ago it looks like something is clipping or biting at pieces of my Acros. Would it be either of these guys by chance?

Could be either, my guess would be the filefish.

I'd highly doubt the emeralds and suspect the filefish. What type of filefish is it?

Emerald, depending on how big they are. If they're above 1" across carapace, then I'd throw them in for sure.

The emeralds are HUGE two of them are atleast. One picked up a millie and took it to the back of my tank last night. I think they are going to the sump until i can get my nano tank.... Will the file fish be ok in a nano by himself?

Funny thing about Emerald crabs - they are considered "reef safe" by many people, but if you dig into the literature, you find that back in 1978, Patrick Colin has even quantified their attacks on Porites coral where these crabs were observed at night and they were "...seen to devour 10 polyps per minute."
Should be a simple matter to figure it out: watch the filefish during the daytime - if it isn't picking at the corals, then it is the emerald crabs at night. Of course, it COULD be both of them(grin). Jay |

Idk what kind of filefish it is, but it looks like the multi colored file fish on live aquaria. It has never really bothered anything, because I have had him for about 6 months. I think it may be the crabs cuz it happens over night... I may be getting a 20g long setup and just put the crabs and the file in their together.
