My color is NOTHING like the Alk Pro in this video. It goes blue, then yellow, then kind of peach and never matches the card. I just received it today. Has the formulation changed since this video?

Hi Mess 7777, There are many factors that give different colors, the color on the rapid instruction card is simply to give you an idea of the change from start to finish of the titration, granted the yellow is unusual but the peach colour you are seeing is very common, how much of the reagent are you adding to see the change through to yellow to peach ?? 1 drop of titrant equals 0.05meq/l or 0.146 dKH so you could back calculate.

Here are some pics. Mine goes from blue....then switches to a yellow color which gets continually darker.

.4mm used

.5mm used

.6mm used

.8mm used

After that it stays the same, although it will continue to get more and more orange...i tried it all the way up to 2mL

If my color switch is so soon maybe I have lower alk than I think?

My API kit says I have around 7....but if I go by the first time the color changes from Blue my alk would be under 6. I know API is nothing to go off of....but this seems pretty low. I am a little leary to dose extra alk to try and bring it up based on a test kit I don't know.

I have all of the rsm test kits, so far the Potassium and P04 are the hardest to read / judge. I love the rest of them though.

To anyone who happens to come across this. I ended up calling Red Sea...told them what was happening. They shipped me out a new reagent bottle. This bottle is actually a red color unlike my other bottle which is orange. Now the colour changes to the pink that the rest of you see. Something obviously happened to the original in shipment....it is contaminated.

Outstanding customer service from Red Sea, they did this without any hassles or hesitation.
