Balling Additives

Hi

Ive been running the balling system for just over a month now and sonce starting the balling system I slowly stopped using my zeovit additives(pohls xtra,AA,and coral vitalizer) I have my balling system dialed in prefectly and my growth is fantastic but my colors are looking a bit faded compared to before balling. Just windering if the is a FM additive I could add to get that color back or another brand that people are using that are getting the results I'm after

HI Ray

The balling light system did not contain Trace Elements to make a extremely coloration they are the base for growing corals and a stabil chemistry, that is the reason why the Fauna Marin balling light system can be usedwith every system on the market. You can add The Fauna Marin Powertrace Elements or Fauna Marin Organic to the tank to recolor the corals

Hey Ray,
I agree with claude here. The balling method provides the parameter stability required for corals to grow like a weed and will work with any system. The zeo products that you were previously using would still work with the FM balling method as they are trace elements esigned to increase the coloration of your corals.
Now if you are looking to try and use the Fauna Marin product to accomplish the same thing here are a couple items you could use.

Trace B: These are added directly to your balling salts and as the name suggests add some trace elements back into your tank in the correct proportions according to what your system is consuming. When I was first looking at adding the Trace B I did the math and what it cost to dose for the full year and it was silly cheap. If memory serves me correctly it was around $12 for the year on a pretty heavily loaded system.

Power Trace: This is a potent trace element solution designed specifically to improve the coloration of you corals and you will also notice an increase in growth. Usage of power trace should be ramped up though. Dont go straight up to full dosage with power trace. Although it may be on the slow and carefull side, here is the ramp up that I used for my system:
ml/week
Week 1 43
Week 2 60
Week 3 77
Week 4 94
Week 5 111
Week 6 128
Week 7 145
Week 8 162
Week 9 170

Organic:It improves the red and pinks, most noticable in stylo, pocillipora and birdnest.
Here is a little test that we did on some of our systems. We minimized as many potential variables as possible but one of these birdsnest was in our system that was dosed daily with Fauna Marin Organic and one system was not. Can you tell which is which?

I thought I was already adding trace elements with the balling system? When I made up my solutions I add 3 types of trace elements. 2 to the alk and 1 to the cal or vice versa. I'm not at home so I can't tell what they are but they are fm product one was heavy metals(i think)and one was fl and iodine. I added 25 ml of each. I ordered the balling package from progressive reef in Victoria Bc. I was already thinking of trying the organic But wasnt sure if it would be a good idea if I was already adding elements

Hey Ray,
It sounds like you are already adding the Trace B to your balling salts.

With the FM system, the Power Trace and the Trace B has some overlap and you have to adjust your dosing if you are using both of there products. But the organic and the Trace B have zero overlap and will not affect eachother.

The organic will definately help to improve the coloration of and pink or red sps. I would ramp up to your full dose with this product as well. Personally I believe that when you start to make any changes to your reef tank they should be done slowly, so start with say 25% of the recomended dose and bring it up by 10% per week.

Been using FM trace b for over a year now with excellent results.
Came across this product. Looks like it can take the place of the trace b.
Gonna try it out.. Seems to have all in one including organics.

wondering what container I should add it into..

Strontium/Calcium
Magnesium
Iron/Zinc
Iodine/Flourine
Organic - enhances reds/pinks

I take it that you are not dosing all at the same levels, and that each solution enhances different colors in our tanks. Can you elaborate on the effects of each?

The Elements in the Balling light Methode are not made for special color enhancement. They bring a stabil and natural level of Trace Elements according to the calcium usage and coral grow in the tank. All elements are calculated based on the calcium use and so it is always the right dose and teh corals can create their natural colors and grow. If you want some special coloring then use the Trace B Complex

So for the calcium you need almost 9 cups of calcium chloride to a gallon of water? Thats alot.

I been using randy holmes recipe 1 but adding the fauna marin trace b to it..
Been working well.

Hi That what you made is a stock solution that mean not that you dose it in once at your tank ;-) if you work with a hight diluted Stocksolution you can use it longer and dose less then in other receipts
