Water Blaster HY7000 seized up
I could really use some help with my Water Blaster HY7000.
I put this pump into service in mid-October last year as my main return pump. Around the first of December, I took the pump down for cleaning as we were traveling over Christmas. The pump seized sometime while we were out of town. On disassembly after we got home I discovered that the impeller shaft was so frozen to the grey shaft bushing plate it took a day-long soak in vinegar to loosen it enough to return the pump to service. Around the same time I cleaned the pump in December, I also moved my kalkwasser dosing line into the same compartment of my sump that the Water Blaster draws from. Thinking that I fouled the pump with kalk, I moved the line to a chamber in the sump that is as far from the pump as possible. Well, the pump seized again last night. This time I'm really at a loss. It has been less than a month since I cleaned it. The pump is feeding a manifold which powers two media reactors and two 3/4" return lines to my 215 gallon tank, as well as a 1/2" line to my refugium. I would estimate total flow through the pump with this head pressure at about 600gph or so. The pump is fed from the bottom of the sump through a 1" Spaflex line, which is upgauged to 1 1/4" line about 3" from the pump. There is a 1" union fitting about one foot upstream of the pumps inlet. Sorry for the long-winded post, but I wanted to provide as much information as I could to start the trouble-shooting process. I really like this pump, but after two failures in 4 months, I'm a little leery about trusting it. Thanks for your help!

Yes, I must agree.
We had some email glitches, but once those were resolved, Jeremy set me up with a new impeller for my HY7000, which I put into service today. I really like this pump, very quiet, moves a lot of water, and doesn't use a lot of electricity. Hopefully the new impeller will put things right!

A very timely question!
Jeremy sent me a new impeller for my HY7000 in February, and I installed it in the pump and returned the pump to service on Feb. 14. The pump has run without a hitch since then. Just yesterday I took the pump apart for cleaning/inspection. There was some "slime" in the impeller well and on the magnet, but there was no evidence of calcium accumulation on the impeller shaft. The shaft rotated freely in the impeller collar. I soaked the impeller in vinegar for about an hour, reassembled the pump, and it started right back up. I'm very pleased. This pump is quiet, energy efficient, and moves a lot of water for the electricity it uses.
