Took a few pics this week.

I broke out the new macro lens this week and took a few photos of a couple corals that were put in the tank at home here in the last month or so. Some of them aren't great because I don't have a tripod yet.

Hydnophora

Pot of Gold Favia

Platygyra

Reverse Prism

TimothyJ you've inspired me to put a nice Macro lens on 'the list'...I've got the tripod...but I've been running a versatile 18-200mm for awhile.

Good looking shots, btw my wife grew up on south 125th in Omaha, we live in Madison, WI now...but she is heading out to see her folks in a few days.

It was because of the pictures on this forum that I went out and found a better camera. I was using the point and shoot and it just wasn't getting to the level I was hoping. There are a lot better photos on this site then mine and I am trying to learn to get to that level. Almost all my equipment is used and it works just as well as a new set.

I am running a Nikon D300 that I bought from a photographer that was looking to update his equipment. The lens is a Nikon Macro 105mm. From my research, great camera and bad glass is worse than bad camera and good glass. If your budget is restrictive, spend more on the lens and save on the camera.

There is a TON of info on this site even on camera's and lenses.

I was born and raised in Omaha and will likely be here long term. Love the city and it continues to grow in a positive way.

I agree 100%. Favia's are my favorite coral at this time. The Pot of Gold was at my LFS for weeks and every time I went in there I would stare at it for minutes. They were asking through the roof for it and no one was willing to pay the price. They then started lowering the price and I was able to negotiate lower because my brother are in there often for an hour or more at a time just making conversation. The picture really doesn't do it justice. I hope to get better photos soon and will post them with time.

Thanks again for the compliments!

Great shot of that prism. Awesome. I may have to go get a macro lens!

I have a nikon D3000 and have been waiting for a reason to get a macro... I may have just found it.

Thanks! It is amazing how much better my pictures look with the purchase of a macro lens.
