Nitrate test problems

I recently purchased the algae contral (nitrate/phosphate) test kit. It works wonderfully and love the sensitivity to get accurate low readings!

However, there is a problem with the nitrate test. The bottle for the nitrate test has a lot of carbon looking sediment in it. So much that it is clogging up the tip to where it won't let me get any drops out at all. Once I finally get the number of drops in and do the test, there is the black sediment on the bottom of the vial. I'm not home and I don't know which bottle exactly but I will update later. I'm pretty sure it's the large bottle for the nitrate test.

What should I do?

Thanks!!!

Hello,
My apologies for the late response, I was on the roads in the last few week.
The settlement is part of the reaction.
You need to vigorously shake Reagent A’s bottle for 30 sec., in order to suspend the residue.
If the dropper gets clogged pass a needle through it.
If at the end of the reaction you don’t see the residue on the bottom of the test vial, it might indicate that the dropper of reagent A was clooged.

All the best,
Aviad

My nitrate test work great, but i am not able to push bottle with reagent to the end, so bottle with only water is lower than bottle with reagent.

Is this normal or plastic failure of my test ?
