Water change: daily, weekly or bi weekly?

I was reading some great ideas on the benefit of doing 1% daily wc versus the normal 10% weekly or 25% biweekly. Anyone ever done daily? Just interested to see what everyone does or thinks is best?

I would go daily if I could spare the extra money to automate the process. But for the time being it's either bi-weekly or once per month if I'm lazy

I change 10-15% weekly. Would give daily changes a chance if I wasn't so lazy.

If I had room for saltwater containers near my tank and a place to easily drain water, I would automate water changes to change a small amount per day. Since this is not the case, I change 10% weekly and my system seems to do well with this schedule. Smaller, more frequent water changes promote better stability in my experience.

I perform a 20% change weekly, but I feed heavily. Being a nano, It's easier to change 20% as well.

there is an easy way to water change daily

constant wet skimming(auto drain to sewage) + auto top up(slightly lower salinity, eg 1.023)

will try to design for my next tank

Since I now own a RODI unit and have water on hand all the time I try and do a 10% WC weekly. Really only takes about 10 minutes of my time.

I keep 15 gallons of salt water on hand all the time.

About a 7% weekly is what I do. I have 5g buckets so it is easiest to do a 5g change every weekend. Only takes about ten minutes to get it done.

WC questions

I'm new to this and am planning to do a 10%wc weekly. (starting this weekend)

Couple of questions
1) how long is salt water good? I got some last weekend when I filled the tank. Can I use it for the wc this weekend?
2) what is the best way to determine the RO to saltwater ratio?

Thanks!

Shouldn't go bad in any short period of time. 1/2 cup of salt per gallon of RO is most salt. But you should use a hydrometer or refractometer to measure the salinity before using it.

I've been fighting a nitrate problem and decided to try the small daily water changes. I started a little over a week ago. I have a 33g cont. of premixed water in the garage. I have been changing 2g a day and so far it has been very easy. Takes about 2 min. a day. I think sometimes I will do a larger water change just to help vacuum out the detritus but I am going to stick with the daily changes and see if it makes any difference. It does seem nice not to have to lug all of my big containers into the house every 2 weeks.

Yeah I think I'm gonna try the one percent or two percent daily and vacuum once every few weeks.

Rarely. I'm not afraid of detritus, and the bottoms of my refugia and sumps actually have a coating of detritus mud that in places is 1/4 inch or more.
