Mine eats mostly NLS pellets, with the occasional feeding of mysis. I've had it for about 4 years now, it's very passive I've never seen it mess with anyone. (aside from small shrimp, delicious!)

Had one and got rid of it. It is beautiful, but a fish that for me I did not see that much. Never did bother the cleaner shrimp. Mine was a major hider and would only come out when feeding, then right back in the rocks. Reason it's gone. Good luck.

I have a mated pair and they are some of my most favorite fish. Mine too eat pellets, but I supplement that with chunks of fish, shrimp, scallop etc. They spawn every two months or so and I know that we've birthed live ones, but they unfortunately become snacks for the others... This is the only way that I've been able to tell my male from my female...

I've always admired Marine Bettas at my LFS. Maybe one day I will venture there. But too bad yours was a hider! :/
