brought the ammonia to just about 2 ppm last night at about nine and tested it this morning at about 6:30. Ammonia was between .5 and .25. It'll all be gone by the time I get home tonight. Am I okay to add some fish?

I would wait until your ammonia & nitrite both go from 2ppm to zero in less than 24 hours, 12 hours would be better. Nitrates can be controlled with water changes.

John at reefcleaners is great and that's where I got mine also. He will ship more than you pay for.

My nitrites came down to zero today, and my ammonia is able to hit zero from 2 in 12 hours. Think I can get some clown fish tomorrow? Should I do a water change first?

Ideally your ammonia and nitrite should go from 2 to zero in 12 hours. I would start off with your cleaning crew first. Are you going to get any crabs?

No, no crabs, just snails. I ordered the reef cleaners package, should be here by next wednesday according to John at Reefcleaners. Should I continue to dose ammonia till then?

With no ammonia source you will have some die off but it shouldn't really be that much. You might throw a little flake food in there a few days before they arrive to give them something to eat. Did you get any nassarius snails?

yes, I got the quick crew for the 15 gallon. It includes 15 Dwarf Ceriths, 5 Nassarius, 9 Florida Ceriths, and 3 Large & 4 Small to Medium Nerites. Should I do a water change before they get here?

Check your nitrates, if above 10 then yes.

Well, my pc hood isn't working out too well. I need to replace it with some kind of LED fixture to get the heat off my tank. What are some viable options for good LED fixtures? It'd be nice to keep it between 300 and 400.

AI SOL, Kessil, and DIY are all good options in that price range.

which in your opinion is a better module? The AI nano or the Kessil A150w Special blend 10k? or 15k? id Like to still have moon lights and do dawn to dusk cycling if at all possible.

If you want to keep the hood, you can retrofit two or three ecoxotic panorama pro modules into the hood. That would cost you 300 and you can keep the moonlights with the hood.

AI SOL is more adjustable because its dimmable and also much more powerful (70w vs 32w from Kessil). Since it's dimmable you can use the single fixture to do sunrise/sunset/moonlight cycles.

That being said, the AI's sometimes look washed out to me in pictures since they are only blue/white, but that could be from people taking bad pictures. I have seen some really amazing AI tanks also. The Kessil's are very highly regarded in spectrum of light contribution (considered some of the best available) but I honestly think you would need two for a 28g and they aren't adjustable.

It's outside of the price range you listed, but the Radion is more powerful and adjustable then either with RGB and 130w output, I love mine! Been using it since last Oct with great results.

Id like to get rid of the hood if possible. It prevents evaporation and traps heat.

Can I use my reef keeper lite as a controller for the ai sol nano to program cycles? From what I've read the blue is the best version of the nano modules for color, would you agree?

Also, is just one of the ai sol nano units enough for my tank? Will the included mount work on the tank or should I get the hanging kit?

I got the lights all set up and hanging now, just wondering what a good photoperiod should be. I have them turning on at 8 in the morning and off at 8, with an hour of ramp for dawn/dusk lighting. That makes a total photo period of 10 hours at full strength. Any suggestions for better timing?
