You have a beautiful collection of corals and they look very healthy too. One thing though is that I would prefer to see less blue in the photos if at all possible. The photos are very nice, and I enjoy looking at SPS coral shots, but I feel that the overly blue tone takes away a lot of the detail and masks the natural appearance of the coral colours. Thanks.

Which Nikon camera do you have? I have a D70 and taking a custom white balance shot with the camera does fix the blue issue a fair bit.

Here are some phots I took with my D70 (under Blue LEDS and T5's):

My tanks overall appearance is probably 20K plus...if you can imagine that. But with my D70 I can still show the coral colours fairly well and reduce the blue tone quite well.

I used the Tamron 90mm macro for those shots. The colour is not generally affected by the lens...its the white balance setting on the camera and whatever post processing is done.

Have a look in your D40 manual for custom white balance...if it has, use it; I promise your photos will show better colour.

Hope that helps.

Or, shoot in RAW and then set white balance manually afterwards on your computer. This seems to work the best for me.
