I'm not ignoring this thread, just trying not to meddle too much.
Anyone care to summarize the consensus on the 8 points raised ?

The majority of members voting in the polls want:
It is worth noting that almost without exception, the majorities were very significant majorities. The polls are closed now, and stand as a record of that.

BTW - helping the community come to an agreement, in a legitimate and fair process, was my contribution to this effort. I hope it helped.
So now I'm retreating to the sidelines, trusting other good members to pitch and help make this happen.

Thanks for the kind feedback! Really.
I'm stepping aside not not because of an unwillingness to assist further. Heck, I facilitate things for a living. It's what I do.But I was pretty vocal in the initial discussions. Plus some of the things voted in action were my own suggestions. So I'm concerned that any further participation on my part would invite suggestion that the results were rigged. The community does not need that... even if I went to great pains to make sure things were fair. In an open forum, there's ALWAYS someone ready to disagree or cry "Foul!" So other members need to carry this forward. PLEASE make it happen. I've got a nano that I'm desperately hoping will be worthy of entry some day. And it's my great hope that this excellent contest will still be there when my tank is worthy of entry - should that day ever come. ![]() Thanks!

Im new to this forum and this hobby in General but ill throw in my 2 cents. How about instead of a tank of the month, do a featured tank. Do a small bio on the tank and ask general questions related to the hobby to the tank owner. Im a newb to the hobby and it would be nice to see what people can do and how long it took them to achieve that. Also I spent alot of money that I didnt need to, they might be able to offer tips on that as well. Like you said anyone with a credit card can throw something together to win this, pick random people who have been posting and lets all learn from what he or she did.

So I guess there will be no ntotm Since the moderator will not put up a sticky starting the contest. Wow 5 pages of discussion and still nothing done.

I'll throw my two cents in.
The nTOTM was spawned (pun intended) from a few of us with the thought of doing this for a few months before it fizzled out. I have been out of the hobby for 3 years but am planning a return in the near future and I can't believe that the contest has been kept up as well as it has. I have a lot of old winning threads to review and drool over! To reduce burnout I tried to setup the contest so the winner was tasked with keeping it going. Agu has been great with keeping this going and helping sticky threads and highlight the winners, without him this never would have stuck around as long as it has, so hats off to him! As for future contests we need tanks to highlight and people interested in giving the contest CPR if it slows down or someone drops the ball and doesn't handle the winners duties. I think it would be neat if the nTOTM was restarted for November 2012, would be the 6 year mark of the contest but really it's anyone's call. If someone wants to get it going before then that would be great to! This contest was begun with just us regular members doing it, it can be started again with just regular members, someone just needs to take the Unicorn Tang by the horn and get it going again. I find reefkeepers tend to unplug from the internet in the summer months, if we shot for a November relaunch it would let people get ready for it and maybe give the contest a boost to last several months or years in the future. Looking forward to seeing how the contest evolves! If anyone want's to see the beginning of the nTOTM here is the thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=1 And some other threads that show the contests beginnings. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...k+of+the+month CPR attempt http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...ighlight=ntotm

Alright, I finished reading through this thread, should have done that to start with
![]() It looks like winners like to bail after taking their victory lap which is totally fine but it also ruins future contests. Maybe the contest should be changed so that instead of the winner coordinating the following months threads a multi-person (to prevent burnout) committee is setup with the goal of keeping the contest on track and on time. They would be tasked with thread building, etc....then the regular person entering their tank would only have to enter their tank and provide a writeup on it, that is a lot less work for them. Do people think that we would get more entries if people didn't have to worry about setting up the next months thread? The more I think about it the more a future re-launch date makes sense. You can look at the traffic in the nano forum, the weather is getting nice and the posts are slowing down. Having a future set relaunch date would allow people to not only pimp their tanks and get ready but also allow for some word of mouth about the contest to get around and increase the entries. If the contest was started as of June 1st would there even be 5 really good tank entries? Also, looks like I am the minority here, I am more inclined to let anyone enter their tank or vote on the contest, regardless of post count or RC Support status. I guess this view just goes back to the start of this contest and the spirit it was intended....just show off your nice nano. The more rules we have the less entries we get and the contest will just die off again. Just thoughts....

Thought I should bring the thread alive again as I miss nTOTM a lot! I dont have much sway on this forum but I motion we get a poll going for a new release date! I think I can get things together in my tank by November! Just hate to have to wait that long lol

I enjoy reading about the winning tanks. That being said, I don't know how much of a "win" it would be if it came with a job (i.e. keeping the thing going).
