I am no expert, but I thought once we disturb the live sand, we pretty much F... it up and that sand is actually worse than the brand new live sand from the LFS. Am I wrong about this?

Ya once rinsed you are pretty much cycling it over again... Some people will just grab a cup from another tank to seed it. Like what you would do if it were new dry sand.

yup, I rinsed the sand for my last tank and had to go through so much water just to get it clean. never again!

go for dry sand and seed, forget that "live" stuff.
