25 gallon cube tank, want opinions on stocking with seahorses/pipefish...

Tank is 18x18x18. I'm planning on a reef...limited coral stocking with an open aquascape that will allow for a couple gorgonians. Small HOB for dosing carbon, Vortech V10 for flow.

Thinking of not going with any fish at all and instead having a pair of horses and a single pipefish. I haven't kept seahorses in over a decade and have never kept a pipefish, so I'm looking for advice.

Recommendations?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

Peace,

Chip

The tank is a little small for a pair of seahorses as the recommendation for most standard sized is 29/30g for the first pair and 15g extra for each additional pair.
Mixing pipe fish with seahorses usually results in the death of one or all in the tank.
It's not even recommended to mix seahorse species or even same species from different breeders.
Check the links at the bottom of "My Thoughts on Seahorse Keeping"
Those links are written by experience keepers and a commercial breeder and represent the most up to date basic information from people here and on the org.

Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it.

Probably won't go with horses or pipes in this tank, then.

Peace,

Chip
