Can someone help Identify this ? Some type of snail?

Found 3 of these in the sand at the bottom of my 8 month old nano reef. Just wondering what they are. Google images was no help.

They are pretty small very oval in shape, buried in the sand and are not moving as far as I can tell. I didn't want to dig them up and disturb them so don't know if they have a hard shell on the other side.

That's the bottom view of a chiton. They are algae eaters, shouldn't be any problem.

Cheers,

Don

Nice find!!! I have seen a bunch of those on a dive years ago but I've never been able to find them in a reef shop. The ones I saw were on the sand bed with no rocks in sight. There were hundreds of them. I've never seen that since.

Never saw chitons in a LFS, but there are several e-tailers in Florida that sell them.
