The Sunpower dimmable have a built in controller, the Powermodule dimmable needs a controller to function via the 1-10 volt ports.

If I want the shimmer of MH would it work to just add a couple of Reefbrite's or (insert name of bulb here)...?

Cheers mate. So the controller on the Sunpower can't be circumvented, correct? Bloody problem is I need/want the 8 bulbs which locks me out of the Powermodule but want to be able to control light cycle from the Apex...

Cheers ChiiBear. I saw those and was hoping that someone would have a possible alternative to them. I remember something about a LED strip that could be placed in a T5 socket but can't remember what company made it... Does anyone know? That might be an option since I plan to go with the 8 bulb Sunpower...

I bought ATI Sunpower Dimmable and the only problem is that it has a system of optimization of bulbs. The bulbs are automatically dimmed in high temperatures, reducing power, which comes to 30% Does anyone know how to configure this luminaire without losing power? Can I do this? Thanks. Bellotti

I added a ReefBrite strip to my frag tank for some extra pop, found out that it can be a little shockingly bright to some corals and hope ReefBrite has there dimmable power supplies done soon. Note the light has to be ordered a special length to mount the way I did as Powermodules are less than there designated bulb size. The pieces are just cut from aluminum and bead blasted to match.

The light spread from the LED does a very good job and I will be adding them on both sides of my peninsula build.

6 or 8 bulb fixture?

Hi Folks, I'm putting my system together and I'm considering a 48" ATI fixture. My tank dimensions are 48"x20"x20". Should I get the 6 or 8 bulb fixture? I'd like to be able to grow anything anywhere in the tank. Everything from zoas to sps.

Thanks for your advice.

On a 48x20x20 you could get away with a 6 bulb for sure although you could have more light bulb control with 8 bulb. I have found that my corals respond well to UVL Super Actinic bulb yet this bulb lacks par, but does wonder for colors. If you are planning a mixed reef the 6 bulb would be fine, SPS dominated the 8 bulb would give you more bulb options.

Scott, Where did you get the brackets for the ATI to hold the Reefbrite LED?

It's amazing that someone hasn't marketed these yet. Some day I'll have some.

I'd love to do the reef brite strip addition, but it sucks to hear that it didn't add any shimmer, i desperately miss the shimmer from my MH ... I love the little to no heat from my 8 PM ATI and the growth is awesome, but I'd love to supplement some shimmer in

Hello. I've been considering a lighting upgrade for my 40 breeder (36x18x16) with mainly LPS, specifically favias, chalice, scoly, trachy, wellso, and acans on/near the bottom and torches, hammer and duncan up top. SPS wise I have a few encrusting montis mid-level and two acros dead center and up high (sure I will add a few more acros as well).

This tank has been running under a 36" 4 bulb Current Sundial fixture and ATI bulbs for 3+ years. I also added a Panorama 453nm 12W LED unit to add some pop about a year ago. Corals seen to be pretty happy under that light but now that my LFS has a variety of LEDs over their tanks I have been considering an upgarde to improve the look (color) of my tank. Problem is I really don't like the look of LED lighting so I am considering upgrading to a 6 bulb ATI. From all that I have seen and read, ATIs pack a punch so I don't think it would be a good idea to tank mount an ATI like my Sundial fixture currently is. So, knowing how powerful the lights are, having mainly an LPS tank and the fact that I will be suspending the fixture up off the water, would you suggest a 24" or 36" 6-bulb fixture? Seems to me the 24" should cover the spread and not have as much light spill over versus a 36"? Appreciate any insight on this!

Starting a 36x36x24 cube. Which lights would you suggest? Thinking about 8x24" or 10x24"??

A 10x24W or a 10x39W would be a good fit.

You may also want to think about 2 of the 4-bulb fixtures as you can spread them out and get more uniform coverage from front to back of the tank. Not sure if that is possible for your installation, but if it is its something you should consider.

If you have any additional questions, you ae welcome to contact me at [email protected] for further assistance.

Hope you havea great weekend!

My tank is 22.5"wX20"dX19"t. Just got the Sunpower 6x24w. Going to mount from ceiling. How high off the tank should this bad boy be? Right now I have it about 2 inches over the tank Want to keep lps and a clam in the sand bed and eventually some sps towards the top. Messing around the with programing so I guess I could just dim but now really sure at what levels and when.

I love this mod!! Looks fantastic!! I've wanted to add led's to my 10x54 PM for a long time but nothing looked right, but this has real options. How did you go about ordering a custom size, if I may ask? Do you have any tank shots with the leds on?

Thanks

Hey solitude,
I have same tank 30gal 24x24x12 and just switched from radion to a 24" 6bulb sunpower, so same light now too.
I will be keeping only LPS in this tank. Can you recommend a good bulb combo for LPS only? And how high above the tank should the fixture be mounted?
Minus sandbed I have about 10-11" of water. Thanks!

I also have a 40 breeder tank 36x18x17. Minus sandbed I have about 15" of water.
I have a 6x39watt TEK Elite about 12" above it now and been lowering it slowly..
Going down to 11" today..
My question, is what height should I stop lowering the fixture? This tank is 90% sps!
Thanks!
