Bubble blaster seems defective on my brand new XP-3000

Just got my XP-3000 cone skimmer yesterday and the pump seems to be defective. Every few seconds, the pump seems to hiccup for a split second. Best way I can explain it is like you switch the pump off and on very quickly. his happens randomly. seems like every 5 to 10 second. The water level I have it sitting in is 6". I tried at 6 1/2 and it does the same thing. Any other XP users experience this? Is this normal during the break in period? I also read in the instruction manual that you are supposed to remove some black cap from the silencer but There was no cap on it at all when I opened the package. Any help appreciated.

OK I thought it was just me. I had a replacement pump sent in for stray voltage and now my new pump is making the sound you describe. It arrived 8/24/2011 and it sounds like you described...cutting the pump on and off quickly . My pump is the one on the SRO 3000 INT. Not sure if they are the same pump or not but having a similar issue with the HY-3000s. Tagging along to see if I need another replacement .

Well....mine quit running tonight. Has been running for 3 months. Water Blaster 7000. I happened to be working in the sump and looked down and noticed some water leaking from it. I took the unions off and reapplied some Teflon tape and it looked like it was leaking from the frame. Then it just quit pushing water. Thank God for unions and check valves or it would have been a nightmare. I have an email into Premium Aquatics.

My 400 gallon tank is now being fed from the sump to the tank with a Maxi-Jet 1200. I have a lot of flow in the tank with Vortechs so I should be fine for a couple of days. I have another emergency pump but I did not have enough hose to run it to the tank. What a night.

My SRO 5000 skimmer pump has been fine. My problem is with the Water Blaster 7000.

I happened to have the same problem but Jeremy over @ coralvue does a good job of making sure your taken care of if your pumps defective. Granted, I just emailed him this morning, so we will see if the new pump has any issues.

I unfortunately didnt get the same service. My pump, till this day still has the same issues. We've emailed back and forth a few times, was told to wait a couple weeks and see how it performed after break in. A few weeks later, I replied that the pump was still acting the same. They did send me a new impeller, however that made the issue worse so I put the original back. been running the same since i got it.

Dont get me wrong, Im in no way trying to bash them, the skimmer is skimming awesome, its just when I spend that kind of money you expect a product to work flawlessly and not have to worry about if it will cause a short and fry your house.

If the impeller did not work for you then we request that you send the pump in for service. Shoot me over an email with the serial number of the pump and I will send you RA information to get the pump in for service.

Mel-E-Mel - How is your situation coming along? I feel your frustration I am on my 3rd pump! The original (actually started leaking voltage into my tank), it's replacement (the hiccuper), and the latest which is back to being a great pump. So far Jeremy and the people at CoralVue have stood behind their products and replaced the defective pumps. Hopefully your situation will be the same. Having been through a few pumps I would not hesitate to buy their products in the future!

Jeremy, will I be getting a temp pump to use while my pump is in for service?
