New tank
Im getting a "new tank" and it has HQI and T5 fixture so I wanna make my own lighting question is how do I figure out how many LEDs I need for ok coverage and what heatsinks.
The tank is 63X27.5X23.5 inches roughly 170 gallons or in metric 160X70X60cm Also can I mix in some green red and UVs with the drivers or do I need another Driver for them? |

If you're planning on keeping SPS then two 48 LED kits will be plenty of light, and I'd go with 80 degree optics if the lights will be under 12" from the water or 60's if the lights will be 12"+.
For heatsinks, let me know how many braces there are in the tank and I can make some recommendations for you. As for Green/Red/UV, you can mix them on the same drivers as long as the current doesn't exceed 700mA on the driver (that's the max the red/UV LEDs can handle). Depending on how many you have it might be easier to simply run a separate LPC-35-700 driver (or a dimmable driver) for them. |
