Hey Doc... I never had an Apex, but will soon enough.
The red graph.. is that the one for when your chiller goes on? What's the blue graph showing?? Is that temp prob monitoring the water or amps graph... I'm lost?? Can someone explain..please.

Blue line is the chiller, red is the Amp line graph
Jarrett, I think the temp difference is because the chiller is cooler the water coming down by gravity from the overflows. That chilled water flows to the sump splits into the lagoon and Refug, thru the dual skimmers, Bio pellets, then back to the main display where the probe is located. I believe its a time delay function that the chilled water doesn't affect the probe into ALL the water is chiller. Probe placement is important in large reef systems. If that made any sense

One of the main reasons that can cause the Temp to go below or above the Temp he has set for the chiller is the Location of the probs to the feed of the chiller. If the prob is next to the outlet of the chiller then the graph will be more exact but if it is on the other side of the outlet then more cold water would have entered the tank and maybe go below the 77 degree mark. That used to happen to me but a moved the probes and it fixed the problem not that it was one to begin with just me being me.

I believe that probe placement is very important but understanding that what you want is ALL the water chilled then placement of the probe near the input of the chiller would be the most accurate. Large reef setups would require adjustments on the program side over probe readings. i.e. to achieve 78* one would program chiller at 78.3* Smaller system may not need this type of programing adjustment.

Thank god I have no fish in my tank because I would be having a steamer pot for dinner!!
my tank got to 84.6 with lights off, its still cycling.... big problem i have is that my AC has gone bad in the area that i set it up at. That Chiller you have seems more and more appealing to purchase Ozonepark

I agree with you doc as far as placing the prob in a tank like yours and in my tank it would not matter either since its so small lol. But maybe this is a new Topic we can do ???? Where we should place our probes and maybe what kinda of maintenance we are doing and things we can all improve on? Just me speaking out loud plus I like to hear how ppl clean there tank maybe I can steal an idea.

Here is my current situation.
1/3 hp chiller inline and functioning 1/2 hp chiller sitting in closet ![]() Temp control at this time is the chiller with the office central AC on set at 80* That is the above graph. So I decided to shut the central AC to test the chiller's capacity of handling 300+ gallons of water.
