Hope your family is ok and we'll keep them in our prayers...Rigs too!

Wish there was something we can do to help - I'll post on my FB page for you! I know that the Vets in the area will help out as well.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you!

God bless!

Good to hear about the 10 day quarantine, but my offer still stands if time starts running out or something.

Have you talked to Arizona St Bernard Rescue ?

If not I can let my mother in law know about the situation, she helps run the rescue and is a foster home for Saints in need of homes. Also she has placed many Saints in new homes that fit there situation.

My sister had reached out to several rescues right after she got back from the hospital. She actually said they were really rude and wouldn't take a dog that had a "known bite history". I think a couple were also full.

It's possible that there is something wrong I guess, but IMO she just did what you should never do to an animal; corner it. Honestly that's why I refused to let her put Rigsby down. Let me tell you tell you about the ear full of cuss words that I got when I said welllll, what did u expect her to do. It wasn't pretty. If it was a completely unprovoked attack I would feel different.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm not anywhere close to home and I am rarely checking in (too busy enjoying paradise ) so PLEASE call or email my sister if you have questions or need info.

So what happened with the dog? I hope she cooled off and realized that the dog was not at fault. When you back a dog in a corner they freak out and react. As for the child can't see a dog that has been around the kid just biting with out being provoked. Not to mention St. Bernard are generally pretty mellow tempered. Anyway hope she didn't put the dog down if I didn't have 5 dogs already I would have taken it. If she is still trying to find a home tell her to contact North Shore animal league think they are mostly on the east cost but they might be able to direct her to some local no kill shelters.

Re Shelters:
Shea already tried EVERY shelter. Sounds like LEGALLY they can not take in a dog that has a bite history. IDK thou. I'm still in St. Croix but last I talked to her, she was QT-ing Rigsby per vet recommendation for 10 days at her house. I'm sure we will find her a home. My sister has come to grips with the fact that she shouldn't have done that. I thought I was gonna get disowned when I said "wellllll...." after she told me she bit her. She got pretty ticked that I took the dogs side, but eh we will move forward.

Thanks everyone who has helped so far. When I get an update I will let you all know.

Just an update; after the QT period, Rigsbys trainer had a friend who was willing to take her. So glad! So Rigsby found a new home with a loving man that already has one Bernard mix and no kids. Good stuff!!
