Thumbs up Rke not showing temp

I had a RKL setup and I switched the head unit out for a RKE. I have the itemp plugged into the PC4 just like before and I'm not getting a temp reading. Does the itemp work that was with a RKE? I bought the unit used and I have no instruction manual to help figure it out. Do I need a SL1?

The iTemp probes are not compatible with the RKE. You will need to use the Temp Probe with the SL1 to monitor temperature. User guides are available on our website (Product information > Downloads) and on our Online Forums.

Thanks!

Sorry to dig up old thread..

Is there another way to get two temp probes on a RKE with one sl1?? This seems stupid that the RKE doesnt support the iTemp.

Can I use two SL1's on a RKE?

You can use more than 1 SL1 on an RKE. The RKL and iTemp were designed after the RKE. That is why it is different on the RKL. It helps minimize the cost of the basic RKL this way.

You can use iTemp probes on an RKE system using the TM4 module. It takes up to four iTemp probes and works fine on the RKE system. Or use another SL1. There is no limit to how many of one type module you can use. The only limit is a total of 63 modules. Of course since the PC4 provides bus power, you need one of them or the RKM-HUB to power the bus.

The tm4 must be new eh? I searched on it and found a pic of the hub. I have one of those lying abound. Any chance that will let my itemp work?

Thanks for the info.

The TM4 has been out for at least six months or more. That module is the only way to make an iTemp version of the temp probe work on an RKE system. If you know electronics, you can simply change the connector on the iTemp probe to one of the Molex style plugs that fit the temp port on the SL1, SL2, and SW5. The probes are the same. It is only the connector that is different.

Ahh, ok that is good info! I can do that. Is it obvious what wire is signal/ground? Is that wire just a single wire and shielded?

I think the probes are a temperature dependent resistor. Resistors have no polarity.
