Looks like I'm the inaugural member!
Got my R-8i a week ago. The 9" water level in my sunp's skimmer section was a bit too high, so even wide open I could only run the pump at 60% power. This morning I installed a 2" riser so now it's at full power. So far I'm impressed with the quality of the skimmer, and blown away by how SILENT the pump is.

Thanks for being our 1st post. If you get a chance send some pics. I'm about to hook up an external model, the R10-e.

Scott. I truly feel the Reef Life Support Systems Waveline DC 10,000 is set to become the most innovative return pump since the Abyzz Eco's, with which the Wavelines share many of the same attributes/characteristics !
Ive been anticipating the release of the Waveline10Ks for months now ... If these pumps perform to the prodigious expectations myself, and others with the same vision(s), have set for them I will be a proud owner and member of this club ![]() Have you done any testing yet regarding heat output/transfer, Scott ? The heat exchange variable, especially if run internal, is my most prominent concern with these. However, due to the DC/electricity consumption variable this shouldnt become a legitimate problem. Then there is the issue of longevity/reliability, which is a very important aspect in and of itself, but the extended warranty provided by the manufacturer stands to prove their confidence in this regard. As always, thank you Scott. Kelly, you as well, for putting up with my multiple calls regarding release date ![]() Im eagerly awaiting the delivery of the (2) Waveline10Ks ... Likely will be one of, if not the 1st hobbyist in the country running these new, innovative return pumps !

Well got my dc5000 over the labor day sale, got it thurs and working on getting it hooked up to my 180 this weekend, it will be replacing 2 tunze 1073.040's, read a review by beananimal, who said he still has had no problems. figure i should be getting 900 gph or so at 5 foot@ 40 watts, ill be using flex line and 1" pvc the rest of the way, w 45's over the top of the tank as im running the herbie overflow.

I cannot wait to hear feedback on this pump! I am setting up a new 65 gallon SPS tank and the pump will have to move water vertically 6 feet. At 4 feet it will be split to go to 2 different outlets back into the tank.
The 5000 should be PERFECT for me and allow for the lowest to second setting! WOW! My questions are: 1. The Million dollar question: What kind of warrantee do they offer??? 2. What are the dimensions of the 5000? Thanks |

Got it hooked up about 2hrs ago, wow, super quiet, only have it on the bar 4 out of 6 and its out flowing my 2 tunze 1073.040's, i know this because it pushed the water level up to my emergency overflow pipes. will get a killawatt on it soon, to see how much wattage its drawing.

bmullikin1,
Wow! Outstanding! Would love to hear what wattage it's drawing with a killawatt! That's a pretty tall pump, but I have the room for it. Interested in hearing more! Any warrantee? Thank you and Congrats! |

I have one of these in my cart on the sponsor's site, but I am hesitant. Are these submersed only pumps? I am looking for a low-wattage external return pump.

DetroitReefer,
They can be submerged or externally mounted. One thing I am curious about is if the different sized fittings are barbed or not??? I cannot tell from the current pics in this thread. 200.00 is not cheap, and I know my Pan World pump is dam good, new and was free. It just used close to 100 watts! I know DC pumps are the future mnore then likely. Just want to be sure before I order. More then likely this pump is Chinese. Thanks! |

All my plumbing is hard-lines. I do not want to use spa-flex or any flexible pipe. External is my choice as I've completed my 180 design.
Thank you meshwheel, for your response. I think that I also need to do a bit more research. I have AC-to-DC (24v, 14.7a) converters for my LED arrays already, so I might be able to run these without the use of the laptop AC-to-DC converter they come with. I'll get in touch with the sponsor and see what they have to say.

It's a great pump. I am using one on a reef tank in Kelly's office and we are installing a RLSS skimmer on the same tank. The H&S skimmer currently on the aquarium has pump restart issues. I'm more than ready to take it offline and put it in storage as a backup...

so a few updates, still quiet as can be, used a killawatt meter for some readings, and got the following readings, bar 1 11watts, 2 16, 3- 24, 4-32, 5-42,6- 52, so not sure if the higher wattages are due to head pressure, or just the limits of a killawatt meter. still 32watts for my main return pump instead of 84watts of tunzes is awesome.

warranty
really torn between this pump and water blasters...
These have some big advantages, controllable flow etc. the main detraction that give me pause is 1 yr vs the 3 yr warranty on WB warranty on a return pump is a big deal |

We expect them to be arriving early to mid October. We have them on order with the manufacturer and we expect these to be big sellers.

Hello,
A couple of quick questions, I am thinking about buying a DC10000. Does it return to previous on state after a power outage, or do you have to reset it? Also, how long in the future will it be before these pumps can be controlled by an external 0-10v source, such as an aquarium computer? I am about to pull the trigger on new return pumps and am undecided between these and Reeflo's. KevinJ |

Sorry but I'm not sure about the 0-10v question. I haven't experimented with our Neptune Apex to see if changing the voltage will bypass the controller on the pump of if there are any issues that would negatively impact the pumps performance in doing so. I will check with RLSS... Thanks,

I got the DC10,000 and the power pack failed within 24hrs.
Emailed RLSS 2 weeks ago and they initially replied, but now they aren't replying. Don't know if they're away or something, but I'm less than impressed so far ![]() Just emailed AS about it to see if they can help me.. |
