Great you just answered my next question of what T5s you are running.

I prefer my tank MUCH more white than most, so keep that in mind, I find the coral plus bulbs don't over saturate with blue like others. If you prefer a bluer tint you'll either make up with the LED's or go with a different bulb selection.

I tend to like a crisper 12k look vs the overly blue 18-20k.
My last tank was a 280 with 2 Phoenix 14k 400watt halides/4T5HO- 2 blue+, and 2 coral+. This tended to be a bit bluish but was very livable.

Before that tank I had a 240 with 4 Reef Radiance Prostars. That tended to be too purple on the blue side and yellow on the white side.

I'm running 3 similar units for 72" 30" deep, but because of slight shadowing I may raise the lights higher. I have seen 4 on my dimensions and you could still see shadowing due to the tanks crossbars.

Your crossbars may dictate between 4 and 5
Do you supplement with any t5s? So far the t5s have taken care of any shadowing from the halides, hope they do the same for leds. I'm going to try 4 first and see how it goes.

So most of the diffused light build i've found use the frosted diffusor panels. Has anyone used something more clear colored but with a ripple or pebble finish?

Im thinking about getting a few pieces of this to try, https://www.usplastic.com/catalog/it...2862&catid=704

Why don’t you guys just go and buy frosted or matted 3M vinyl film?

I can't find the exact post, but I know people tried that sort of thing, plus a few others that weren't just frosted/matte and they drastically preferred the frosted for color blending. The pebble finish made the disco effect worse.

120 is even overkill, but I would not do less.

Hello all, I am setting up a new 120g reef 48x24x24 with sps and lps.

I am about to buy 3 of these 165w marsaqua lights and just wanted to ask 2 quick questions to those who have these lights:
1- Do you think 3 will be sufficient for my tank?
2- Do these lights provide the nice "Shimmer" effect I can get with Metal Halides or Pendant LEDS?
Thanks in advance!

Any CBB run 120* optics like reef breeders? I see galaxyhydro may be the closest.

No need to run optics if you want 120deg just pop the optics off and you have 120 deg.

Perfect! Do you recommend buying GH or Mars or is the SB Reef basic worth the extra coin?

Personally I used a Popular Grow WiFi and liked it a lot. My buddy had a SB and he liked that as well. Basically the same unit one with UV one without, both grew SPS like weeds.

Raise them higher and it will cover a 24/24 area

I have 3 120W lights on a 72" tanks, 1 per 24/24 area. There is some shading but I like it.

mars aqua have a hot sport directly underneath and are very strong lights.

Thanks! How high do you have them above the water?

I'm running ocean revives which are similar about 10" and I want them 6" higher but have to cut holes in canopy.

That's for a 30" deep tank

Anyone have any pictures of their tanks running these leds, with T5 supplements? I have 2 aquamars on my 90g, and overall I'm happy, but want to get a little more growth/pop out of my corals.

Change out a few leds and you can have any color you want. No need for T5

I have VHO 454's if need be and I love the led only color on mine.
