Photon 48 Apex Compatibility

Anyone know if these lights are still not compatible with the Apex? Have two photon 48s that I would love to not have to program individually everytime I want to make a lighting change.

They can be turned on and off by an Apex, but the individual colors and sunrise/sunset is not Apex compatible.

On the other hand, the new Photon V2 has a new improved remote compared to the V1. The new remote is where you do the programming and then it is downloaded into the fixtures after it is stored in the remote. If the 2 fixtures are anywhere in the same room they will both receive the programming download at the same time. So you can do your programming while watching the college football championship game in your bedroom and then the next day, press a button and download it into all the fixtures at once.

I have 2 of the V2 fixtures and the new system is MUCH better than the V1 system was. And I had 3 of the V1's to program! Rumor has it that an upgrade to the remote is coming that will change the sunrise/sunset system from 24 changes (once every hour) and do some kind of mathematical smoothing where the 24 points you load will be broken down hourly into 10 changes per hour. So even big jumps hour to hour will be smoothed down to much smaller changes every 6 minutes. At least that's the rumor. But then this has been on the agenda for more than a few months now, so we'll see if it ever materializes.

Well thank you for the detailed response - I certainly was not aware of the large improvement in the V2s!

I am in a bit of a quandary, as I cannot see upgrading the lights and NOT having them be Apex compatible, but I do love the RB fixtures. Decisions, decisions!

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Always happy to help.

As for not being able to control it with the Apex... I guess I don't see the point. Once you set up the fixture and get the settings you want, you very rarely go back and change it. And it doesn't make heat like a MH or even a t5, so turning it off when the tank starts to over heat isn't an issue, even though the Apex can still do that job. I don't see what else having it be Apex compatible does for you.
