2 Kessil AP700's on my180
I have a 60 x 24 x29 Custom Acrylic Tank and 2 AP700's . I did something and now my Lights won't come on with my program on the kessil iPhone App. I have been running them in a manual mode, but I think I just need to reset the Kessils and start the Acclimination mode over again.
What do you think my highest intensity should be? I am thinking nothing more that 45% Maybe too high at this point. I have had the light for about 3 weeks now, but the lighting has been all other the place (so to speak). |

35-40% is where I started. Depends on how high up they are mounted also. If mounted higher start intensity a little higher. I would restart the app and start over.

Well I did mention it was a mixed reel “dominated by sps”, meaning far more than half of my corals are sps. Also the original question was would be good with one fixture for sps....not sure if he meant a strictly sps dominant tank or something like I have. That would be up to him. I posted the pic to give an idea of what exactly I have. Sorry for any confusion with terminology. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sure, you can get away with it. Not optimal, maybe if you added a couple T5s. I think you can grow basically whatever you wanted as long as you considered mounting height and placement. Avoid the highest light hungry corals until you are sure they will be ok, try just a few. Also keep all this in mind when it comes to the aquascape. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m just very mixed between. A kessil ap700 and two g4 radions. I️ want most user friendly. Not a very technical guy. Want more of a plug and play. I’ve been hearing good things about g4 with there uploaded proven preset

If you want mainly sps I would probably go with 2 g4s. But Kessil is probably more user friendly in the setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have an AP700 on my SCA 66g for a year now. Have not seen any Coralline algae growth, which is currently restricted to the Live rock that I added last year to seed the tank.
Any help with increasing coralline Algae? I am dosing Kalk in my ATO + Adding Seachem Magnesium, and Reef trace elements Thank you!

kzaveri, be careful what you wish for. Coraline can take over to the point it can become a nuisance too. That being said, I have a very low nutrient tank and was asking the same question the other day to some buddies at the LFS. I'v e not seen a piece of it in 6 months. That algae competes for the same nutrients as other algae, its jut more aggressive. that's why it usually takes over. So low nutrients could be a reason. And that's not a bad thing.

This video just came out at BRS. Thought it shared some good info. Got me thinking about my own tank. I have a 48" x 22" mixed tank. The max I've had my intensity is 55%. I run around the 2-3 blue color on the color wheel. This video recommended 100% intensity for mixed reef of a tank my size with the optimal color being the 4th blue from the bottom. I'm curious what others think and what your intensity is?
I thought I'd experiment a little and plan to adjust my intensity 5% every two weeks and see if I notice a difference over time. At the moment, coral growth and expansion looks happy and healthy. So its got me curious to say the least. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/video...t=brstv_022118

Was surprised on the data given in Video. I have a 3 ft tank with AP700 and would not consider 35% intensity ideal. I don’t have a par meter to get don’t know levelsbut that seems low

Got mine last August 2017, started with 40%, about 10" from water level,. then increased 5% every week. (So 4 months running 100%). I really love the shimmer, but I felt I had to add T5 supplement to get rid of shadowing. So I retrofitted the AP700 in an ATI sunpower last month.

sil40sx, did you notice a particular intensity level that was an obvious difference in how the coral's responded? What about your colors? What colors are you running?

Not really. I’ve had 2 x XR15 G4 on 100% as well when I replaced them with the AP700. Maybe once, the leather and finger coral didn’t open all the way up around 90%, then i went back to 85, I’ve waited 2 weeks before bumping up again, and they were fine. As for general colors, I didn’t noticed any difference as well (good or bad). Another reason I decided to add t5, and hoping to have better coloration for my SPS. About 90% blue when ramping up till noon, then all blue the rest of the day. Last edited by sil40sx; 02/27/2018 at 11:46 AM. |

I've started a ramp up program, ramping up 5% ever two weeks until I get to about 85. I've changed colors slightly as well based on personal preference and the BRS Video on th AP700, moving from 2nd and 3rd blue to 3rd and 4th blue (from bottom of color wheel) as I ramp up. I'm also going to add an hour to the cycle. Gonna take it slow, though, and do this over a long period. After watching the BRS video on the AP700, I believe I was shorting my corals on intensity.
