Buying a ro unit
Hello,
I currently buy my RO unit from my LFS but I am looking into buying my own. What are the key must-haves on these units? This is is one I was looking at; https://www.finerfilters.co.uk/finer...us-50-gpd.html Thanks. Last edited by fishkeeprian; 03/08/2018 at 05:53 AM. |

I would strongly suggest that you buy one that has standard sized filter housings. When it comes time to buy replacements for the one you have linked, you will likely find that they are cost prohibitive. My go-to for ro/di is www.buckeyehydro.com. Others have used spectrapure or bulk reef supply with good success.

Those are fine. RO are cheap these days. I use RO but not DI. You may want to get add on TDS meter inline. Get good RO membrane even if you have to spend a little more but the tubing and housing are unimportant other then the need to fit standardized size. There are housing out there that just a little long and this is a huge problem. The replacement filter cost quite a bit more.

I don't know what Europe use but in the US it I is a 10 inches filter housing. One time I order extra housing and got one that was not quite 10 inches and cannot use it. Still have them. I think I will just recycle this brand new housing in the plastic recycle.
