Are these acros?

This is not a ID (I know there are not supposed to be ID's in these forums) , I have AEFW and I need to know if I should treat these 2 corals. I am planning a dipping regimen for all the acros.

and the circled fellow.

I take it you were trying to avoid Acropora. Ah, that's right--you just ended up with that case of AEFWs, right? Now I understand your frustration.

Yup. The identifying trait for Acropora is the polyp on the end of each branch is much larger than the others.

The central characteristic of Acropora is the pronounced corallites. "Acro"= sharp, prounounced; "pora" = pore.

Misspoke a bit. The apomorphy of the group is the presence of an axial corallite (polyp on the tip), which is not necessarily (though often is) larger than the radial polyps (Wallace 1999).

Not really misspoken at all. That is precisely what I said (or at least what I was referring to).

I love C. Wallace's book. Should be in every coral keeper's library.

Will do. This is sort of an emergency.

And wow.... you just ruined my day with that "yup".

Can anyone recommend the best SPS ID book out there? (I know most of the lps).

Okay based on your statement I have a feeling that your are referring to the red planeria flatworm, which I might say a lot of people see. How do the flat worms look like, any pictures? that can help us out some more.

No , I am reffering to AEFW. They look clearish , flat, invisible on coral. They eat the coral leaving circular bitemarks, and lay eggs at the base.
