Just got my new large maxima so they all posed for pics. My collection is not half as nice as most on here but I hope you enjoy anyway.

wow Jovreefer, The one in the first pic is a black and white zebra maxima. IMHO they are the #2 hardest to find clam in the hobby.... Good find! What did you have to pay for it?
I have only ever seen two for sale online, one was $500 and I got mine off of ebay for $100, I got lucky, I guess the other bidders didn't know thier rareness. BTW the middle clam is actually a crocea. Just curious, what lighting are you using. And also do you know what kind of macro algae that is growning in your tank? One of my little maxima's has it growing on his shell. |

Yea, sorry I should have stated, the first pic is the new clam, I'm aware the middle is a crocea, I've had that thing for 5+ years, started under PC's.
I got the clam from a local seller, he said he did not think it was the sought after "zebra" Its also got the gold streak in the middle so I got it for $75 I'd say its close to 7 inches.[edit] forgot your last questions I'm using 250 SE's 10K ushio's & PC actinics. The algae is a calcarous (pardon my spelling) type. I forgot the name but I'll shoot you a PM with it when I find it. They are annoying, spring up in my tank a few times a year all over the place. Neat when they are green but then they get large & the bottoms die off & turn white and flakey.

Nice find. It is rare to find maximas like that of that size nowadays. 10-15 years ago you could often find super ultra grade maximas in the 3-4 inch range.

Thanks Delphinus!
My favorite is the golden crocea (5th picture). Its gold iridescence is a lot more impressive in person. sam |
