I wanted to share what I use to feed my copperband. Its a simple PVC end cap and adapter to plug it off. I drilled some small holes in it for him to get to the food. The great thing is he is the only fish that can get to it.

Hope this helps out some of you with picky eaters.

Where do you place that in your tank? Have you considered glued a magnet to the back so you can keep it up on the glass, each for you to reach?

That is extreamly great. I have fed fish with feeders for a long time and think these feeders should be more often used for certain fish. I used to feed my moorish Idol from a dish which was automatically re filled and I patented a feeder for seahorses.
The feeder you made is perfect as thats the way copperbands feed in the sea. They poke their noses into holes.
I like it.

Thanks for the kind words Paul B. I came up with the idea after seeing a few posts about ways to feed them and how they love to poke into places to eat. Being a lover of the Home Depot it was a easy plan and a cheep one with less then $3.00.

If you buy the magnets, be sure to dip them in something. There's a product at Home Depot used to dip the handles of tools to rubber-coat them. I think you may have to heat it up; I really don't know. Anyway, dip them many times, like 8 to 10 times total to get a really good thick coating.

Then bond it to the feeder.

I had a guy make me some last year for my feeding clip, and love 'em.

I love the feeder idea. I'm thinking about bonding one to a piece of acrylic that's heat bent to hang on the top of the tank. Will Weld On 16 bond acrylic to pvc?

Something like this:

I need to post a new pic of my CBB. He's become best friends with my Purple Tang. They're almost inseperable.

You can glue acrylic to PVC with PVC solvent. I prefer Oatey's in the red-labeled can, which is a cream colored solvent.

What does your CBB eat? So far, mine eats Formula 1 and 2 flakes and pellets, mysis, bloodworms, Angel Formula, and Rods Food.

So far shes been picky and eats mainly mysis and choped clam. I have tried other things in the cap and its hard to tell whats been eaten and what has not. The other fish hang around her when she eats grabing things she misses.

I recently had one in QT which didn't make it--I'm going to try your feeding method with black worms whenever LA gets some Aussie ones in again.

I've had a CBB for a little over a month now; he's doing great and eats really well (mysis, blood worms mainly). The only thing is he's picking a bit on my clams (croceas only at the moment; I knew it was a risk). If I tried the feeder idea, do you think he might start to ignore the clam or would he just pick at both? I'm preparing to move the clams if he doesn't stop; I've always loved these fish!

What are those things you are feeding in the feederÂ´s picture?

IÂ´m looking for something ready available and that wonÂ´t come out easily through the holes.

I bought a CBB, IÂ´ve had 2 in the past and used them for aiptasia infectations, unfortunately after they ate all of the aiptasia they died.

But this new CBB I bought it because they trained it at the LFS to eat zooplankton, they feed it sweet waterÂ´s zooplankton, little chunks the size of small pellets, and it eats them readily. I bought it today and fed it 5 hours later and ate them!.

But right now IÂ´m keeping it in the fuge, I donÂ´t know how easily will it be for it to catch the food in the 175 gal, thatÂ´s why I was thinking in your idea, have you tried grinded shrimp(shrimp through cheese grinder)?, I mean what else would be liked by a CBB and be heavy enough not to fly so easily from your feeder?

Yup, I donÂ´t know if the holes are big enough though, they are the size of the base of the pen only 2 holes that big.
