It's probably been 10+ years since I've been to this store, does anyone shop their? Good selection and prices?

I get noodles next door (awesome BTW). Sometimes I'll venture into her store only if I am feeling like I want to get depressed looking at a 6 inch angelfish crammed into an 8 inch cubicle. Stangely though some of the fish seem to do OK.? Curiosity got the best of me one time and I asked her how much she wanted for a 4 inch Magestic Angel, I passed on the $175 price. Otherwise, there might be some finds to be made. But if you like Pho, try next door!!

JC's is to the left and Long Thin is on the right. JC's is awesome too. I used to go to school with the original owners daughter. Lucia was the best rib chef around. The family that owns it now does the same BBQ recipie but cook the ribs differently now, seems like they boil them more. Oh well, all this talk is making me hungry.

If you really want to fill up fast go to Amato's Cheese Steaks a block away. OH MAN!! GOOD EATS!!!

not sure how they used to BBQ but i wasn't impressed. They take short cuts. It's obvious that the ribs weren't slow smoked nor was it slow cooked for that matter. Not bad when you're craving.

Best bbq I've had is in Pismo beach at Mo's smoke house. :-)

Never been to Long Thin, I usually don't go to Pho's places. My orthodontist was down the street 15 years ago that's how I know of that fish store.

I can't find any places that have REAL bbq around here.

There's a place @ the corner of Capitol Expressway and Story tiny little hole in the wall bbq place which have the meat done right but the sauce is a little sweet. I like places that can do dry rubs as good as I can.

It's sad when LFS don't take care their livestock. There is one store in SJ (on Alvin, across post office) that is doing the same thing. All their SW fish are inside these little 5x5 cubes. Last time I was there to buy couple FW fish, there were couple blue tangs could only swim in one direction because they couldn't turn around ..

Oh yeah, Pho is good .. I used to eat that all the time when my dad was a cook at one of the Pho place. There are a lot of Pho places in SJ but most of them are suck (IMO ). I only like couple of them.

That store you're talking about is CD Aquarium. All the fishes are in dividers 10x10 if they're lucky. They've been in business forever too. I rescued a powder brown tang there a few months ago.

Ti, yeah I like Dac Biet but cant say that I'm a fan of the tendon in it though. I seem to always migrate to fatty flank and tripe.

Pho 54 in Alum Rock and Pho Long? on the El Camino and San Tomas are my favorites. Gotta try the others mentioned here.

Used to have a 30" Gold Asian Arowana a few years back. Still my favorite fish--used to drive to Steinhart from San Jose just to check them out. I know they're a protected species and are thus illegal here but when I visited the Philippines, I drooled since after seeing them being sold all over the place--red, green, gold, blue--whatever color you wanted.

I dont know if you folks know this but I am sure most Vietnamese people know this, the Pho Hoa on Tuly in the Lion Plaza is open 24/hrs.

I love ordering the dac biet for my girl. Everything in her bowl end up in mine except for the noodles and the thin sliced beef. I OWN THE DAC BIET.

Dac Biet is my favorite but I also really like tai but served with the meat on the side. Siagon City in San Mateo by Fish For You is a good place but my favorite is the place right off of Lawrence and 237 whose name I can't remember. I used to eat at California Noodle House in Santa Clara at Lawrence and El Camino before they changed their name to an american name. Of course I have no idea how to pronounce their old name but I think it had to do with trains...

As long as we're on the food topic anyone else notice that L&L Hawaiian BBQ is growing in leaps and bounds these days? My favorite Hawaiian place is Da Kitchen by shoreline though. That's a good plate lunch along with the spam fried rice! mmmmmm.....

Pho Saigon in San Mateo is pretty nasty, they americanize their pho and dilute it quite a bit. Pho Y is probably one that I would have my vote. Pho Saigon is also here in Fremont on Mission.
