Green skimmate

Just like subject states. I am getting green skimmate. For those who saw my 90G upgrade thread (being shameless here) know that it is a new tank, and just got my skimmer tuned to produce some skimmate. The skimmate is green! I've never seen anything like it. Mostly brown.

Anyways, tank load is light at the moment - a clown and a gramma, 1 hermit, and 4 snails. I am into green algea phase, could this be linked somehow to green skimmate?

Any thoughts?

It depends what is it pulling out. A lot of the brown stuff comes from feed and fish poo, in your case with a new tank I think the skimmer is pulling mostly microalgae stuff thus the green color.

That makes sense.

I have a UV sterilizer that I have not hooked up yet. Any speculations on what would happen to microalgea spores / skimmate when I hook it up?

Not much color wise, just that now they would be skimmed dead

This is my first cup LOL I just tuned skimmer for the first time and that is what I've got. I'll try to get a picture tonight, but the junk is not dark, but rather light green.
