Zanclus cornutus is reef safe ?
A friend of mine said to me thats it is true... zanclus is a reef safe fish..
I doubt ![]() Whats the true ???

Could be safe if fed right. Paul B has had one in his reef for a long time and haven't heard any bad news.

yes they are safe if left out on the reef. It is when they get into our tanks that their problems start as they don't have the best track record.

some will peck at various corals but on the whole they are not to bad.the one i have was kept with soft corals,mushrooms and large anemones but never bothered anything.derek

We can see in nature, some zanclus eating corals....so...zanclus is not reef safe

"Reef Safe" is a relative term ( at best !) when it comes to fish. Even some Tangs have been known to pick on some LPS corals.
Anyway, this is such a delicate fish I cannot reccomend it being in the Trade anyway. Its reefsafe if left on the reef is a true statement IMO. Matthew |
