NanoGurl’s Oceanic Tech 120 Reef Thread
Hey everyone =)
Okay, so I am going to start off this split with the upgrade to the new tank. We decided to go with the Oceanic Tech 120 for now. We were originally going to do an in-wall, but those plans changed. Our goal is to get two years out of this 120, then hopefully we will be able to do the 240g in-wall and use the 120 for an eel species tank.. which was my original goal when we started things out. We started our 75 at our old house to combine our smaller tanks into one.. and we didn’t want to go real big knowing that we would have to move it eventually. The 75 has been a great tank for us, and I will miss it. However, I am happy to finally get our 120 upgrade =). I was going to start a new thread for this build, but this thread has been too much fun to let it fade away… So here’s some background on what we are planning. This list will probably change, but since we are using some of our old equipment for now, I will list it. Tank Specs Oceanic Tech 120 Starphire Black Trim - 48” x 24” x 24” Tech 120 Black Trim Stand 2 x 150w DE MH Phoenix 14k with Reef Optix III Reflectors and Ice Cap Ballasts ½” Starboard Bottom. 75 Pounds Mixed LR & Marco Rocks 4 x 6045 NanoStreams for 40x Turnover 2 x 150w Jager Heaters 40g Breeder Sump Mag 7 Return Pump ASM G3 Skimmer We will probably upgrade the skimmer and lighting to 250w halides. |

Here are some photos of where the tank will go. We are having our new house built and the following photos show some of the progress the room has undergone. We are going to put down tile in place of the carpet that the builder is putting down. We also have a dedicated circuit run to the tank.
Me and clown the day we bought our new house. First day of construction. They leveled all the ground and there were huge mounds of dirt everywhere. Foundation set in place. Concrete basement floor poured. What a mess this was. We snuck in at night for some fun =) Framing going up. Xmas night we snuck in again to take a look around. No idea what I was looking at lol. Drywall up. They put the mold resistant stuff on that wall for us. Drywall painted. This is how it looked as of the last time we were there. We are going back on Sunday and they should have the carpet installed… but we’re ripping it up anyway. |

I just thought it would be less confusing for someone that hadn't seen my thread before to start it off with the 120... so I had to cheat |

Awsome Nanogurl. I wish I could make as much progress as you two!! 120 is almost twice the size as the 75, so it should be twice the fun! Right?

Why do you people congratulate a thread split? I've seen it more than once. Just curious.

Here are some photos from our Marco Rocks order we received. We ordered 100 pounds of figi and 20 pounds of tonga shelf rock. Some of the rock came in good, but the majority of it wasn't real impressive. And half the rock in the tonga shelf box was broken and useless... can't really do much with a 3" x 3" piece of shelf rock lol.
The box arrived!!!! ........ three weeks after our order. The finest available! Wait for it! 100 pounds laid out on our floor. The tonga shelf that had been in stock since jan 4th finally shipped out on jan 25th... one day after the third email of ours had been ignored where we finally cancelled the order... amazing the next day the rock ships. We did win a free mod kit to a MJ1200 though... but I would have rather had nicer rock sooner. |
