2nd Annual Montgomery Reef Club Coral Market

The Montgomery Reef Club will be hosting the 2nd Annual Coral Market on April 25th at the Drury Inn just off of I-85 in Montgomery, Al. from 12-4 PM CST. Fragging Demonstration at 2 PM ($10 fee). Door Prizes/Raffles at 3 PM. Free Admission.

Some of the sponsors so far are DT's Phyto, Sunlight Supply, SeaChem, Drs. Foster and Smith, ReefGeek, Reefscience.com, ORA, and CaribSea. More to come.

We'll have light snacks and soft drinks available, also.

The Drury Inn offered excellent rates for those who traveled last year, but make arrangements as soon as possible to ensure you get a room. I don't think there is anything going on that weekend, but you never know...

Buy, sell, and trade corals and lightly used equipment. There will be a little bit of everything there from softies to SPS and everything in between.

If interested in setting up a table, contact me and I'll get you penciled in. There is a $10 table fee for those wishing to rent a table and sell/trade.

Yup yup. I hit every swap within 5 or so hours. The only one I've missed so far was the first Memphis swap (allergic reaction to an antibiotic).

Replied, RUGDOG.

GFLAT65,

Put me down for a table. I'm sorry that we have not been able to meet yet. Every time we have a meeting I'm always out of town or working.

Anyway, I will be starting a thread here shortly showing my frags so that everyone can get an idea of what I will be bringing to the table. I will have about 70 SPS frags of different varieties, and the last Non-SPS coral that I have (Hammer) I have fragged all of it into 1 & 2 & 3 head frags.

Thanks,

Art

Clint,

This is the only one I'm aware of in Alabama. We plan to do one every year (but it'll be another year...). Come check out the club. A good number of frags at the swap will come from club members.

Art, Terry, and Draco-got you all down for a table.

You can put us down for a table. We are coming so we might as well bring some frags. We have a very large gonapora for sale. My clowns kept hosting it so it has been in the frag tank for two mnths. I decided to go ahead and sell it.

Art,
Thanks for invite, weekends are better for us. Maybe this Friday night? I know this may be a issue if you are as busy as we are.

I have been wondering how much an add on like public TV would cost. I believe there is alot more interest out there but alot of people dont know about frag swaps and reef clubs. I know I did'nt untill late last year. I have had tanks for most of my adult life. What about news paper adds or fliers. Just brain storming here and man it hurts.

I'm going to get some threads posted today in other forums and in specific club forums off of RC, like the Panhandler reefers, and the Mobile area reefers, etc. if anyone has any friends at a newspaper, that might help, also. In Nashville, they actually came to the house to do a story on reef aquariums as a promo for the swap. We had a lot of people actually come to the swap based on the newspaper article. We've got to get fliers to Jim, too. If he can post a flier in the store, that will get the word out to our key market. Jenn works for the radio, so if they have any npo type slots, I'll see if there is any free advertising. Let everyone you know know about it and we'll see how big we can make it.

I'll also get somethign posted in craiglist. I've gotten a few responses for the club from craigslist, so there may be potential. Any other ideas?

Here's an updated flier. It's more of a coral market than a frag swap anyway, right?

So far, we've received a dual 250W HQI Blue Wave Ballast from Sunlight Supply, a $25 gift certificate from reefscience.com, A number of additives from SeaChem, A number of additives from CaribSea, on the way are 16 oz bottles of DT's Phyto Plankton, a $25 gift certificate from Dr's Foster and Smith, and a package from ORA to go out just before the swap, along with something from ReefGeek and several other sponsors. I'll keep positing as I get confirmations or receive things for the swap.

Hello everyone...
I have some great news!!!

I'm sure everyone is aware of Aquarium Fantasies being our LFS sponsor. Well, now we can add two more locals to that list
Atlantis Aquariums is another LFS who will be added to our list, and we also have a local website who is a sponsor....
www.poseidonscoralpalace.com. So, go check 'em out !!!

So, what does this mean for our Coral Market??? All three will be there!!! The two LFS will be there for the day, and I'm quite sure they will extend their office hours after the swap if ya'll want to zip over there to browse before heading back home. They're both less than 5 miles from the hotel where we will be.

How will this benefit you by us having these sponsors?? By joining our club, these three sponsors have agreed to give club members 10% off all livestock. Of course though, at the Market the prices will already be reduced, but if you want to browse their shops afterwards, be sure to see me first and join the club (it's only $20 for the remainder of the year), and you will save on your purchases!! You can join early by going on paypal and using our address: montgomeryreefclub@yahoo.com or pay once you get there.

And don't forget, you can check out www.poseidonscoralpalace.com anytime!! We can't wait to see everyone

Julie
